Vanessa serves as the Project Manager within the Medical Technologies Department. She holds an undergrad in Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security, a postgraduate diploma in Management with a specialization in HIV/AIDS and Health. Currently, she is in the process of pursuing her Master of Public Health degree. Vanessa brings 6 years of extensive experience in the research field, where her primary focus has been on the study of rapid diagnostics for various diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and SARS-CoV-2. Her research efforts are directed towards enhancing the accessibility, utilization, and efficacy of diagnostic kits for self-testing. Throughout her research journey, Vanessa has actively contributed to the evaluation of 9 HIV self-tests, out of which 6 have received WHO Pre-Qualification. Prior to assuming her current role, between 2010-2016 Vanessa was engaged in Community Development projects, with a particular emphasis on addressing Protein Energy Malnutrition among children under the age of 5.
