We lead and conduct effective research initiatives that have an impact on local, regional, and global communities. We serve as a premier multidisciplinary research centre with a focus on treatment optimization, medical technologies and devices, vaccines and contagious diseases, and other emerging health issues. In order to lessen COVID-19’s impact in the world, we have used our expertise to fight the pandemic together with other organizations.
We strive to make healthcare accessible to people in a socially just manner. Affordable drugs and self-care tools – including, TB, oncology, as well as HIV Patient-centric, technology-enabled, clinical research innovations with a focus on clinical excellence. The main goals of treatment optimisation are to improve medical outcomes, correct use of medications, reduction of medicine waste, and improvement of medicine safety. Ezintsha has conducted research around HIV Treatment and Prevention on projects like has PEPFAR-funded HIV programmes in South Africa, focusing on men, women, children, young people, truckers, sex workers, and LGBTI communities Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) Project which is medicine taken to prevent getting HIV.
Medical Technologies and Diagnostics
According to the World Health Organization, health technology refers to the application of organised knowledge and skills in the form of equipment, medications, vaccinations, procedures, and systems established to solve a health problem and improve quality of life. In the healthcare sector, this refers to the utilisation of drugs, equipment, processes, organisational systems, and information systems supported by computers. Ezintsha continues to play a critical role in medical technologies research and testing of diagnostic devices for different diseases.
Vaccines and contagious diseases
Through research and surveillance, Ezintsha supports and contributes to clinical trials and research for development and implementation of vaccine programmes. We have done work on Covid-19 together with other role players, including the government. Our main objective is to make vaccines better and to make immunization programs more widely available, especially to those who are socially and financially disadvantaged. We have worked with organizations like PEPFAR USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates, SAMRC and the government on vaccine projects.
Other Emerging Health Issues
Numerous infectious diseases have appeared, and others have unpredictably returned. Ezintsha continues to be one of the drivers and collaborators for scientific investigation and research for emerging diseases. Our global footprint will continue to be used to harness the power of collaboration in public health.
